its only a minority making these kinds of comments but basically 'stay out of the fire if you dont want to get burnt'

ie. if you wanna watch a band you enjoy and be near the front then you can expect a grow man to throw himself off of a 15/20 foot high balcony at you.

I've just watched the YouTube video. I know there's "punk" and everything, but that's just irresponsible.

Kinda reminds me of a few years ago when I saw The Aquabats in nottingham and a band called "Never Heard Of It"'s lead singer was just generally being an arse. He dived into the crowd and in midair got punched in the face.

I found this very strange as it was at a Aquabats gig (probably the least likely place to find any violence.)

I'll admit, it was funny just because he was still singing at the time and all you heard was "Urgh" suddenly.

its fair enough to walk away with a couple of bruises after a gig depending on how mad you go but no one expects to walk away with broken bones, especially from some irresponsible sod that jumps from that high knowing that their are a lot of kids present

Ollie said they stopped letting people in cos it was at capacity. Hard to tell from the stage so I'm just gonna choose to believe it without question Very Happy

It was pretty damn busy in there at times. I know that just before King Blues, I'd been chatting to Robin and he tried to leave to go pee but was told he wouldn't be allowed back in without queuing up if he left.

But yeah, unquestioning belief usually works for me too.

Yep. In fact, the little stages had better beer. Red Stripe in the Drop Dead room; Corona in the Punktastic stage. All so much better, and colder, than the god awful Carlsberg/Tuborg 'warm from standing on the side' one-two punch.

Only the Vans stage was straight edge. Dimmers says it's because it is a mosque from Monday to Friday. I read it was because the folks that donated the cash explicitly said "No drinks, squire." An unnamed source claims it was to entice the hair-straightener crew into the good stage.

    The truth is out there...

the vans stage is the riley smith hall which is used as a theatre room most of the time. it seems that you never have been allowed to drink there.
the islam society rents out another room to serve as their mosque which is somewhere else at leeds uni.
still rather daft that the stage where the most adults are gonna be is teh one where you cant drink

I think the worst thing was not being allowed to take cups of water in.

I said to the guy on the door into the vans stage surely thats a little stupid on a day as warm as this what happens when people get dehydrated and start passing out? and he replied 'speak to the festivals organisers its their rules' so I did and he(the festival organiser) seems a little disturbed at how overzealous the people on the door were with regards to not letting drinks in. I dont think he was expecting that.

Al: great review. Only spotted two mistakes as well Smile

Peeky: Security staff the world over have the same mentality. Namely, "I don't make the rules, I just enforce them. But if I don't know the rules, or disagree with them, I'll just do whatever will annoy most people". Had the same trouble at the end when I was trying to find out if my friends who had been to the specials were allowed in to the club night. Responses from the 6 staff asked ranged from "yes", "maybe", "i don't know", "ask that guy over there" to "no, now fuck off".

I've broken my collar bone on the right side three times, I can reach straight up and pick up heavy stuff, that said the guy is still an idiot, and it doesn't sound very fun to have the weight of a guy and his balls of steel come crashing down at you from that height.
