Ska Mutiny gig?
Suggest some places and everyone in a band raise your hand!

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
I'll say Wales just because it's easier for me to get there, but that's probably not very central to everyone else. But I could drive to England I suppose. I'll do it for the ska, man!

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
i think we should do this scientifically, we should take the locations of all members and average out the locations, nearest city to that is where we should host it.
(fyi, should we host a party for the whole world, it would be held in East India)

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
so if i got a whole bunch of leicestershire people to join up theoretically it'll be closer to my location? haha
we could have a small serie of gigs, like surface unsigned works. south west, london area, midlands, wales and north. if we could find enough bands for all the gigs though

leeds sounds good. only an hour n a half away, probably took longer than that to get to our brum gig the other day
lateAugust? gives at least 2 months preparation/promotion and it's after any exams but before any schools/colleges/unis start back.

Another vote for festival here.
Give me a stage at this festival to choose bands for and stuff. Hells yeah.

It's all well and good saying "Yay festival!" but in reality that's a lot of hard work to organize. Not that I want to shit on anyone's parade.
One night would be good though.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
I think everyones missing a major point here. we have 100 users. about 30 of those(at a massive stretch) are actively posting. about 20 of those are in bands. that leaves 10 people to pay for the bands that are gonna play some petrol and a venue. £25 a ticket sound good to everyone yeah?
basically its a good idea in theory but its not workable at all until we have a much larger active userbase or a big headliner to pull in a crowd that doesnt know about this place.
Dont even get me started on the logistics of a festival.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
doesn't have to be aimed at just forum members, there'll be lots of decent bands playing, promote it enough at we'll get a decent turnout and mayeb even some new forum members.
festival might be a bit much for now hahaha, stage at rebellion next year? =P
edit: i was actually thinking earlier get a headliner in to pull a crowd, if we could get reel big fish we're set xD

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
I think if we could get someone like SB6 in on this (the website as a whole, not just the gig) word of this place would spread a lot better. We already have Random Hand who have a large fanbase but we need more.

Fixed. Like I say eventually it would be good but its not the time to be doing this. we need to build on the forum as it is before doing a gig of some type.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
I mean if we could get them to mention the site at gigs or on their own website and shizzle then we could probably get more hits.
I downloaded this music video thing for my PS3 today and I searched for ska bands. It came up with Madness, Aswad, No Doubt and the King Blues. I hate to say it but the King Blues would make for some good hits given their new mainstream success.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
how about until we can get actual skamutiny gigs we have ska mutiny 'sponsored' gigs. i know some of you organise gigs, myself included, we can just organise a night like normal but whack skamutiny name/logo on flyers and give it a shout out? nothing to lose, members to gain

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
Yeah it wouldn't be hard to stick the logo that we have at the top of the site and a web address in the bottom right corner of flyers. I'm certainly doing it next time I put on a ska gig.
Ska Mutiny flyers on their own would be a good idea. Especially for events like rebellion or large gigs like the Specials.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
STICKERS. get on to phantom screen print and get stickers done. those of us in bands are shooting up and down the country all the time, we can give them out with our nerch, stick them at venues, around towns, all that sorta stuff. if we all have a massive promotion slurge then we can start thinking seriously about a big gig. html banners for myspace.. all that stuff... but yea im agreeing with everyone else, we need to majorly raise the profile of the site before any big gigs. but we cna use little gigs to do that.

Re: Ska Mutiny gig?
has no one actually read the ska mutiny merch thread?
I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm ordering stickers next week as well as t-shirts and badges.
