Ska Mutiny Compilation CD Empty Ska Mutiny Compilation CD

Post by Steff Tue May 12, 2009 11:38 pm

Ok, the thread where I mentioned the free compilation CD gave me an idea, I think it's pretty cool and I'd like to hear what you think.

Since I had fun making those CDs and everyone on here seems to think they look pretty cool, A few people have asked me if I'd sell them a copy, and quite a lot of the people here are in bands I reckon I could make another compilation, mainly of bands with members on this forum, I'd put it all together, then sell and post copies dirt cheap to the bands involved, who can then sell them at whatever price they see fit.

Everyone here could help me decide on the final track listning if they want.

Please feel free to refine and contribute to this idea Smile

EDIT: So this one isn't going to be the ska mutiny comp, but I'm still doing it, just under a different name. Send .mp3s to ska-cd@live.co.uk if you want a song on it

EDIT 2: For a better quality CD, I'm asking that you send the songs in the best quality file format that you have (eg: .wav, .flac) to ska-cd@live.co.uk

Sounds like an awesome idea to me; get as many bands on there as you can and you'll have ska mutiny being distributed all over the country. Sounds like an awesome awesome idea in fact.

i'm sure they've already got this floating around, it was pointed out early in 'theska' and 'ska community' days after all. let's hope that they get further on with the idea than rich and titch did though.

if we're going to release this i'd be all for a cheap as possible plan, sell the cd for cost and possibly just offer the cd as an mp3 download from the site (external hosting, rapidshare or something)

i'm all for the member's bands being put up on there but peeky and summers are both friends with a lot of bands also, i'm sure there'd be more than enough room for everything we could scrape together.

'A WarAgainstSound' are recording at the end of this month so you could get one of our new tracks on there;) Plus if they get printed before mid-July we can sell whilst were on tour for 3 weeks, get it spread round the country!

Yo - to be honest we'd like to really take our time with a compilation, getting it properly pressed and hopefully with some big names alongside some smaller UK bands.

Obviously any sort of DIY compilation is an awesome idea, but we'd rather not have it under the ska mutiny banner at this stage, if that's cool? When we've started work on it, we'll stick up a thread asking for submissions. Obviously not everything is gonna get on, but we guarantee it will be awesome!

This is slightly off topic but while we're talking of compilations, what ska songs do you reckon would be good to work out (that's exercise) to?

Don't minus me for that! It's not that off topic. I'm thinking of making a CD for my circuit training class so it would have to be stuff that people who don't know ska could listen to without scratching their heads.

That's fair enough, I'll just do it with a different name and logo and stuff then yeah?

hah i didn't. ok well if it's for people who don't know ska, i'd stick to old stuff like the specials and the selecter, and some more chilled out modern stuff like the scrub, mustard plug, planet smashers...
