Was anybody disappointed by Heavy Rain, i expected so much more for the hype, and the £40.Only got miniscule 8 hours gameplay. if youre thinking of buying it, dont. Its only worth a rental

Re: The video game thread
What's the gameplay like? Wikipedia says it's "an interactive fiction game" and the description isn't that helpful
Anyone got Bad Company 2? Although it's multiplayer focused game I still think it's a shame that DICE is releasing console Battlefields instead of PC ones. I miss having 64 player games (or 256 if they increase it to be like MAG)

Re: The video game thread
it's exactly the same style as their last game, Fahrenheit
basically, it's a big long choose your own adventure full of minigames and quicktime events.
Considering Yatzee, your fuhrer, reviewed it during the condemned2 review, i thought you'd be well up on it

Re: The video game thread
im trying to work on a sniper hac stratergy as in long range cruisers with plenty speed, plenty range not so hot dps, with the idea you gib the small stuff befor it gets to you then chip away at the big stuff from out of its range but my ships just keep flying up close, against the npcs im finding CR weapons, slow prop and a Huge tank is working best.
edit: worked out away to use frigets to kill cruisers and now im hapy, compleated all the demo missions on expert Only using frigets will still be bloody ages till i have the full game dl

i've been foiled in my master plan to replay shenmue 1 and 2
stupid new tvs and their lack of control
i've bought a dreamcast scart cable to try and fix this problem, now i can't wait for it to arrive
until then i'm just going to ask everyone about a black car/sailors

civ 5 is looking awesome

don't feel too good about the lack of religion in it though

Re: The video game thread
i'm sure we talked about this last week, changing a function to work with one button press instead of 6 is not dumbing down, it's streamlining and it's fixing.
i'll miss religion because i thought it was the big feature that i liked the most about civ4, it was fun to go on a bit of a crusade, but i do have faith that it's being replaced with another feature thats equally fun.
in other news, i've been playing jet set radio and tony hawks 2 all weekend (thurs-fri) and i've put a bid in on jet set radio: future on xbox

Re: The video game thread
changing the ui is one thing, making an economy easyer to manage is dumbing down, Im not saying that civ 5 is a dumbd down game its just swiched its focus so stuff that was easy in civ 4 (geting saved games of scott) looks like i could be hard and things that wer hard (geting games of dave) might be easy.
started playing rhought he sp of bfbc last night, Realy enjoying it, decent standerd shooter with enough comidy to make me laugh. Im playing it on the pc so not having any problem with stupid auto aim (thier isnt any auto aim) I would definataly recomend this and I havnt even tried mp yet

Re: The video game thread
greed corp is awesome
i picked the trailer with the least gameplay footage, because i love the intro so much. It's a turn based strategy game with a corporate greed (no shit!) and environmentalism. To gain money to buy units and win, you need to destroy your land. Each game starts with huge tracts of land and ends with two or three pillars of ground left as the survivors duke it out. loads of fun

Me and my mate were playing hardcore rush and the whole of our team left and no-one else joined but we managed to hold off a team of 9 at a bridge for about 15 mins when the game finally let people join. It was well dramatic

Re: The video game thread
On another ninja related note. Has anyone ever got the chance to play 'N+'? I think it's based on a web game called N. It's basically a really simple platformer where you're a ninja but it gets really tricky in places.
