    So, Vinyl? Empty So, Vinyl?

Post by Summers Sat Aug 22, 2009 3:15 pm

I remember having a big dorky vinyl thread on SC where Streetlight Steve and Minty showed us all their multi coloured pieces of wax.

I will often decide to collect things on a whim, and at the moment i like buying records. None of my records are particularly nice colours so i won't post any photos, but i've picked up some cool stuff in charity shops. I got an original pressing of Snuffs first album for 1.99, 4 Police LP's for like 99p each, and a Fat Wreck compilation for 2.99.

I like doing the charity shop circuit. When i've actually got money i'm probably going to waste it on nice coloured vinyl. The new Set Your goals album should be with me soon Very Happy

    Anyone else?

All I got is an orange King Blues 7" and nothin to play it on. I don't even have a CD player at the moment so I'm sure not lookin to invest in a whole new/old format. It's a lot easier just to have everything on my computer with decent speakers, doesn't take up space and it's easier to sort through.

got lots of picture discs and coloured ones too. I have 3 different coloured vinyls of the same alkaline trio album cus i'm hardcore and all the picture disc singles off my favourite album and loads more i cba to list

and rx bandits ...and the battle begun on 2 10" red vinyls =]

i do have a record player but i don't use it much and don't play the pic discs at all

Snuff's first album for £1.99!!!!!!! Flipping eck! What a find. My favourite UK punk band ever, and my favourite band live ever.
    Post a photo please?

My favourite vinyl is a seethrough 10" (yes 10 inch! I couldn't believe it either!) Rules single by Ben Kweller. I don't really buy vinyl anymore, but back in the days when I used to buy singles from HMV I would choose vinyl as they are cheaper and therefore I could afford to pick songs I like by bands I don't like. I still have an Andrew WK vinyl somewhere.

I posted this in another thread but it's relevant here too. It's just a standard black disc but I like the cover.

I only bought it for the B-side which is We Want Fun. It's the single for She Is Beautiful. It's not even the single version of We Want Fun with gang vocals.
You can fight Nik Box for it, as Andrew WK is his favourite artist of all time!

    Big list.

I'll start the bidding at minus a grand for the ordinary boys one.

I don't see the point of having vinyl for punk music though???

surely punk is the ideal genre for vinyl as the lowfi sound makes the quality of playback less vital. not so sure bout pop-punk though.

I thought the whole idea was that the playback quality is higher on vinyl? If not whats the point of it?
