    Rebellion Fest! Empty Rebellion Fest!

    http://www.rebellionfestivals.com/

    Who's going?

I've been considering going, then my lovely friend text me a few minutes ago to tell me Bad Religion are playing (although they don't seem to be confirmed proper yet), I almost died. This has made my day, and quite possibly my year, it better be true! Even with out them the line up is pretty damn sweet!

Who's been before? Where's good to stay and stuff?

I don't think I've been this excited for a long time Very Happy

    i'm going,

last year we stayed at a place called the golden thistle i think, it wasnt bad, had a bar, and between £18-20 a night per person with breakfast, though it is one of the more further out than others, about 10ish minutes walk from winter gardens, its cheaper if you book it through hostelworld.

i think this year we're staying in travelodge, because my bf's parents are paying for the hotel, and its pretty much right next to winter gardens.

it is an awesome weekend, even if most people dont end up remembering it (:

I've been for the past two years and it is great. I enjoyed being around people with the same interests compared to the people I work with. Plus it's a great weekend to spend with my Dad.

I don't know if I'm going this year though. There's a punk festival in Morecambe in May so I might go to that instead.

Yeah I'll be there. Its so intense that I try and play it off to myself like its nothing so I don't shit myself of excitement before getting to Blackpool. And then I've got Boomtown Fair straight after.

I'm stoked for Streetlight, but i'm a little concerned because sometimes their sets are a bit short.

They've got plenty of other dates. Even ones in Europe are doable. The wife actually likes Streetlight. She usually hates everything I listen to so I'll try and get her to a gig of theirs.

Yeah I remember you! A sick set as well, the American accent on Josh suprised me though, having heard Hostiles tunes but never heard him speak before. Did you enjoy it? It was one of the most positive experiences of my life. So many great bands, so many beautiful people. It certainly left its mark on me.

I'm going up a day early this year because I spend Thursday-Sunday watching bands non stop, and people say to me, 'where the fuck were you?' or whatever. BUT I think everyone I know who's going ain't gonna be there til the Thursday anyway.

So if any of you are gonna be there on Wednesday please let me know? We can meet for some boozing or whatever?

This is looking nice: https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=103666313016861&ref=ts Looking forward to seeing Geoffrey OiCott there and local heroes Resolution 242.

West Coast Rock Cafe is fucking tiny but a great place to see bands. It gets busy really quick so I imagine if you're thinking of going there after Wednesday also I'd get in there early.

Yeah is it the one with multiple stories and those narrow stairs? If so I went to it on I think the Thursday for an aftershow. What's that band that did WMC? Hold on I'll google it...The Dead Pets were there and trying to blagg it past the 'no one else in, we're full' bouncer to see their ex band mates in Acid Drop...I thought 'I ain't got a chance' and bounced.

So yeah cheers, I will be looking to get there early.

Did you go to that thing in May by the way? Nice N Sleazy?

    Also:

John Robb is presenting 'the first Rebellion Literary Festival'...looks pretty exciting, but it's on AFTER the bands start which is a real shame. People are looking to squeeze a lot into 4 days, it would be nice to do it as a start to the morning, maybe in a pub somewhere if the Winter Gardens weren't opening on time. Still thats easy to say, harder to handle the practicalities perhaps.

I didn't go to Nice n Sleazy in the end because I moved to Cyprus that weekend. West Coast Rock was full when I went but one of the girls from Pink Hearse saw me and got us in. I like them but they get so unlucky when it comes to some of their sets. I think they blew up two amps last year.

Damn bad timing on the Cyprus thing eh mate. Never mind. I ended up not going either cos it was the same weekend as Strummercamp. I've not heard of Pink Hearse, I'll have to check them out but I'll make sure never to stand too near their amps.

The amps were smoking and everything.

Pink Hearse are a punk band from around the Blackpool/Fleetwood area. It used to be an all female group but their lead guitarist left and they replaced her with a guy. They do some alright stuff. I especially like their cover of that Rocky Horror number, Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me.

By the way, what's the ratio of punks to normal, boring looking people (myslef) at rebellion? Not that it'll change anything, just curious.

It's mostly punks and skins so you'll be in the minority but there are people dressed in all kinds of things. I was at a stall talking to someone and they commented on my odd socks. I said to her, "And you think I'm the strangest looking person here?"

You have to get a mohawk therur, otherwise they won't let you in. And LOL to the odd socks.

I wish I was going Sad I don't have any moneys for it and my gig buddy is off on her travels so I'd most likely be going on my own. I think its all a bit late for getting a hotel and stuff now anyways... sad sad times. Totally going to try and make it next year if I can though!
