Just started a food blog Smile

    http://punkchef.wordpress.com/

It'll have general food related musings, questions and recipes in there. When I get a good internet connection I'll make it look all better using a download version of wordpress, but that will do for now

You must really like cooking to go and start a blog!

I know exactly how it feels to have grandparents in Ireland... they are gone now, but they used to stuff me and my brothers to the brim! Haha...

The first thing I made in Food Tech was a sandwich as well... stupid! I would hope that by 12 years, we could already manage making a one... I remember mine was apple, cheese and salad cream... and old obsession, the thought of eating one now makes me feel a little sick!

Yeah you're right. There's a sandwich place in Kendal called Donuts (they do doughnuts as well) and they do brie and apple baguettes. They're my favourite.

Heh, indeed I do love cooking... I'd love to actually write a cookbook, and I guess this is one step towards getting round to doing it. I'd imagine there's quite a few people starting food blogs, what with Julie and Julia in the cinemas at the moment, what bad timing to get inspired!

Cheese and anything is pretty good... cheese and beef sandwiches are a favorite! Or cheese, tuna and cucumber....

One of my nephews loves honey and cheese sandwiches... it makes me feel a little sick when I have to make them for him No

Mmm, just watching Masterchef : The Professionals, I'm so hungry now, and I want french onion soup too!!

On the topic of "cheese and anything"...what about cheese on toast? or even better, Welsh Rarebit!!!

    20g Butter
    20g Flour
    A good splash of a ruby/dark ale
    Loads of strong grated cheddar
    Egg Yolk
    Worcester Sauce
    Salt
    Pepper
    Bread, toasted

Melt the butter in a pan, and add the flour to make a roux.
Add the ruby/dark ale to the pan, and stir until the roux has broken up into the ale.
Add the cheese, and stir until thick, and gloopy.
Take off the heat, add the egg yolk, stir thouroughly so as the egg doesn't scramble from the heat of the cheese.
Add a splash of Worcester Sauce (or a veggie equivilent such as Hendersons Relish), and the salt and peppper.
Generously spoon over toast and put under the gril until browned.

    Mmmm, supper

I went mad last week with the Reggae Reggae sauce. I was originally going to just make a curry with one of those boring Pataks sauces, but thought fuck it and lathered my diced chicken with the stuff, chucked some peppers & onions in, garlic, chorizo (yeah, I was going mad) and rice. it was great.

Has anyone tried any of those new jars of Reggae Reggae Sauce, they're doing a Jamaican Curry Sauce and a Jerk Sauce. The curry one is really nice, a bit of sweetness, but with a nice mild kick. It says do it with lamb, but I'd love to get my hands on some goat, and do it with a bit of authenticity... although, really, I'd just like to make the entire thing from scratch

We have some in the house and i really want to try some, however the normal part of me is going with the whole "i cant be arsed" approach. I really hate being lazy sometimes

Talking about off the hook, I went mad with the stuff again today, this time I lashed loads of it over 3 racks of ribs after boiling them, then banged em in the oven for half an hour.
