Re: Cooking
the magic of cooking is that you can keep tasting it as you go to see how it is.

Re: Cooking
I made pizza from scratch yesterday! Was yummy, got the left overs for dinner today...
Made some coconut and cherry muffins as well... but my flat mate opened the oven door while they were cooking so they didn't rise much

Re: Cooking
Thats one thing I have never done and always wanted to do, make a pizza from scratch. Back in the day, we was meant to make one in school, but I was "ill".
Speaking on cooking in school, my mate got suspended for making space cakes.

Re: Cooking
we made one at school once but it was a scone based pizza!! rediculous
we've got a bread making machine at home though so that makes a pretty good pizza dough. though we dont have a proper pizza tray so the dough always stays a little squidgey in the middle

Re: Cooking
What! How did that taste?? I hope it didn't have raisins in as well...
When I made pizzas at school, someone in my class made a sweet version, it was amazing, basically a giant choc chip cookie, with chocolate spread instead of tomato sauce, then marshmallows instead of cheese... Looked well good!

Re: Cooking
Anyone watch Masterchef: the Professionals last night??
Masterchef is a real guilty pleasure for me. Some of the food they cook is awesome, and the format is really engrossing.
They made Raviolli pasta with a soft egg yolk inside last night.
Looked incredible!

Lloyd Grossman hasn't presented Masterchef for a number of years now.
They went all "Top Gear" with it, and gave it a 'trendy' new makeover.
They don't just cook gourmet food in a darkened room anymore with posh bastards dissecting it anymore.
They get them to cook all sorts of different things, with different challenges etc.
It's damn good.

how spicy is it? i can only handle moderate spice
The idea of having three different types of chilli, (fresh, ground and dried & smoked) is to give the chilli depth of flavour, so don't omit them, just add a little bit of all of them, and then taste it, and if you want more, add a little more. Just never forget, you can always add, but never take away.
I like my chilli con carne a little bit on the hot side, but only just. When food is so hot you can't taste it, it's a waste of good food.
AND DON'T FORGET SALT AND PEPPER! I cannot stress it enough haha

Re: Cooking
thankyou kristoff! i will try this if i get some motivation
the masterchef in autralia is even more complex! it's on everyday of the week with little challenges and then a kick-someone-out challenge at the weekend. and they all live together. it's more like a cooking version of "america's next top model"!! or in this case, "australia's next top model"

Re: Cooking
Just made rice pudding, I used to hate it when I was a kid (due to those tins of rice pudding being nasty, thin and flavourless). It's a Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall recipe, but I feel like I should share it with you all.
Ingredients
100g Pudding Rice
50g Caster Sugar
50g Unsalted Butter
500ml Full Fat Milk
500ml Single Cream
Nutmeg
---
Melt down the butter in a pan, gently and then add the pudding rice, make sure it doesn't fry, it just wants to be coated in the butter.
Then add the cream, milk and sugar, and let heat up a little.
Whilst heating, butter an ovenproof dish and then add the rice pudding mixture to the dish.
Grate a little nutmeg over the rice pudding, and slowly cook in an oven at 140degrees C/Gas Mark 4, for 3 and a half hours, stirring every half hour.

Oh my, I made rice pudding once and it was amazing! I didn't use pudding rice though... just used normal rice.. haha!
I think I may give that recipe a try
Me and my flat mate have just made a cake for our other flat mate, as it was her birthday a few days ago... it looks yummy! But we can't eat it yet as she's not back until like 10 tonight!!! Boooooo
