i dunno but as i dont know what a pidge is and i am a pervert, im assuming its something rude, therefore checking it must be a euphamism of some variety

A pidge is a pigeon-hole (so only a slight innuendo there ;P) - the slots in the entrance hall where your post gets delivered if you live in halls. So a pidge-check is just craning your neck expectantly to investigate the contents of your pigeon hole. I was just as thrown when I first heard all this slang (e.g. what's ming? and what do I put in cuppers?)

Oh, and you get a 1-up for managing to make it into an innuendo I hadn't thought of before

I know a guy who put up cards that weren't addressed to him. It their own fault for not changing their address after four years!
