well then, theres not much you can do except:

    * move the pc closer to the printer
    * move the printer closer to the pc
    * wait until the place closes and photocopy your balls

i hate printers so much, I just set a pc up right next to it, moniter on the floor etc etc. If any one actualy wants to print on it they will have to usb the file on to the pc but they can deal with it Cool

That is so gash. You can't run a USB lead through the middle of the office but you can put a PC there?

the printer is behind the door of the boss's office and the pc that I wan't it printing on is in the main office so would require me running a line around the door and across the room.

since the printer is Masifffe i just tucked the tower/screen under the printer.

So my job for the next 2 weeks is sticking the painting and cleaning office into one smooth working supper office. I started by going round figuring out what specs/what softwhere every pc had on it. their is not 2 the same in the entire building /o\.
We have an "I.T. solutions" contract with a company and it pretty much looks like they have been grabbing whatever is nearest on the shelf and selling it to us, with hard where I can understand but 6 pcs with 3 different windows and 3 different versions of office is just retarded.

I also have a room of printers to sort out that im full on dreading, fucking things are evil, shit and probably broken because they are printers and thats what printers do

well i want to get all my site managers blackberrys so customers can contact them via a work email and i don't have to proveide them with a desk/pc.

my choice would be one of the cheeper blackberry modles (one of the curve ones) since they have good barty lifes, are drop resistant and are good with email.

one of the other directors has been listerning to buzzwords again and has asked me to look into htc phones. The google ones look fine but most of the other ones either look like iPhone clones or seam to be built around looking perty so was wandering if any one had any views on them.

anoyingly smart phones apear to be Heaverly fanboy suported so all the reviews I find keep saying OMZG x phone is amazing all others are crap.

yeah, the fact that they're asking for a brand rather than anything useful suggests they don't know dick about what they want, it's like somone insisting when they get a pc that it's a compaq. htc make both android and windowsphone7 phones, and possibly some others with their own os, give them the cheapest blackberries, they don't need music apps or lighsaber fx bollocks.

I don't know about that but I do know that you don't need to go all out on the specs. If it's just going to be day to day email checking and the odd spreadsheet, you don't need a supercomputer. Just get the basics and save yourself loads of money.

Hell, the Man's computers have IE6 and hardly any flash support.

Are you not going to need more than two? I guess you'll need microsoft office licenses too?

I wonder if any businesses actually run free software.

one of the dragons does, (can't rember wich one) read an intresting article he did esentialy saying business don't need offices, computers, expensive softwhere you need an accounting department, meeting room, wordprocessor (he used googles one iirc) and a smart phone.

im only looking to upgrade the secrataries pc's since we have started reciving files in formats they can't open (they are all on office 2002 on acient pcs) I found one of the pcs in the back of the office had 56mb of ram, didn't even know you could get less than 512.
