Easy Star All-stars (Dub Side of The Moon) UK tour

Post by rockers on Sun Oct 04, 2009 5:30 pm

    EASY STAR ALL-STARS
Easy Star All-Stars have announced a UK tour in October showcasing their new album ‘Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band’ - a unique ‘re-imagining’ of The Beatles’ classic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. This continues Easy Star’s series that transforms timeless albums into reggae masterpieces, begun with Dub Side Of The Moon (2003) and Radiodread (2006). The band will play tracks from all three albums on the October tour and support comes from John Brown’s Body.

Oh bollocks. I would've taken my dad to this for his birthday if a) I'd known about it a few months back and b) I wasn't already busy on 3rd October. Nevermind!

I went to the Sheffield show, I thought it was bloody great. Did a few of their own songs hen went playing through Sgt Peppers, about halfway through that switched over to Dark Side of the Moon for a bit, theeeen Radio head, then no real order. My friend criticised them saying 'all the songs sounded the same', which I guess could well be true if you weren't familiar with the songs. But if you like the Easy Star albums, you'll be bloody impressed by how good they sound live (though some of the bassists solo playing was a tad off...). They were on a bit late though and didn't have time to finish their set list, which was a shame 'cos they never got round to doing one of my favourites which they WERE intending to play! But yeah, excellent show, I'd highly recommend it.

What were you hoping for them to play?

A day in the life. Love that song Razz It was down on their set list as their first of 2 encore songs, but they didn't have time to get that far down the list... ironically they played 'time' for their encore Razz

The Globe in Cardiff has apparently closed down, wouldn't mind finding out if that date is still happening and where.

Saw the Norwich date and absolutely loved it. If you're a fan of dub music or the original albums the band has dubbed up, do have a listen.
