Where should I move to?

when i've got a few grand in the bank (starting a decent pay job soon) and i have acar and whatnot, i definately want to move out, away from leicester preferabely. any suggestions of where to go? decent music scene is essential of course!

Well it depends where your job is.

The only advice I can give (apart from don't come here if you want a good music scene) is live in rented accomo, but as cheap a shithole as you can manage with...people say rent is pissing away money but if you can keep afloat and even save a bit, you won't be tied to a mortgage and have less freedom.

On a slight side note, almost everyone I know with a mortgage will take so much shit from people because they are shit scared or getting in trouble / sacked / whatever.

Also the costs will add up before you know it, especially if you are trying to keep a car on the road as well.

If you want a decent music scene, don't move to Norwich. Some people will argue that the scene is what you make it. If you book them they will come, so to speak. That's not entirely true.

Go northern.

in leicester when you book a gig it's so bad you have to worry about actually getting the bands to arrive let alone fans! anywhere is better than this.

manchester maybe? wouldn't mind a bit o yorkshire hehe but maybe too far north

it's in loughborough but my plan is to save up for 2 years or so after i've bought crap i need and move out with enough money to live for a bit while desperately finding a job. hoping to have 6grand or more

Well it all seems a bit wobbly down there but it should be in Bath Place Community Venture...its Positive Junk, the same crew that used to put bands on in the JamJam / Kellys club.

Aye but I'm hardly ever back home and when I am my time gets filled up with goin climbing, catchin up with a few old friends and seeing relatives. I haven't really got anyone to go to gigs with there, plus I'm out of touch with the scene.
Then again I'm probably out of touch in Birmingham too. As far as I'm aware there are three ska bands here; Resolution 242, 360 and Tempting Rosie. Skatch don't count.

thres some great punk in birmingham too, check out hiphop-punksters 'broken minds' incredible live, and their dj is doing some scratching on our album

Yeah I'd suggest either Leeds or Manchester, they're both awesome , plus more skaheads that live here mean better attended ska gigs!

manchester or leeds... or south wales with DETACHED FROM SOUTH WALES. or Kettering. stevenage has a pretty good scene going.
