Recommendations thread!

Ok this thread is for everyon to recommend a ska band that the rest of us aren't likely to have heard before. I'll go first.

A defunct ska-punk/skacore band from the Cumbrian coast. I saw them support [spunge] in Preston a few years ago. Top band. The 1st recording isn't one of the band, they just messed about with that.

Phase4, they're pretty damn good and awesome live! My band play with them quite a lot. They're one of the few Leicester ska bands around and they really do it for the love. sounds blokes and can't wait for the Skalloween night we're doing with them! if anyone's brumland based they're plaing round 3 of the surface unsigned competition august 6th, i think it's at the asylum but i'm not sure

I didn't mean what town, I meant why haven't they become more known in the ska scene? I guess that might be because I don't know all that many bands in the midlands ska scene though.

John Player Specials. A local ska band from Wigan, they handed me a CD at The Beat a month or so ago, they're pretty good. They're currently signed to Do The Dog.

I've put JPS on plenty of times. A cracking good band. Love them. They trashed my house once. True story.

They broke me out of an NCP and got an 80 quid fine for doing so.

Ponse sound alright but probably would have done better if they had access to a tuner, the beginning of that 2nd song is painful!

yeah phase4 are absolutely brill but they don't really promote themselves much, hence why i love to recommend them to people. any of you lot in bands if you wana play leicester i'll probably put you on a bill with them!

another good leiecster band, bigger than phase4, are Last Edition. I saw them play with Fandangle then got in touch and tMM have played with them a few times. They're off to support the King Blues in Coventry August 8th if anyone's interested. www.myspace.com/lasteditionska they also hae lots of good quality recordings

ok my turn, double effort, firstly a band from deepest darkest west wales, Johnny Action Finger who I have probably mentioned a few times already. They are probably the biggest band in west wales but further east than carmarthen they are relatively unknown, and I don't really know why, they could easily be touring the whole UK with the talent they have, I guess they don't do gigs outside of pembrokeshire enough.

next band I'd like to reccomend are the thieving beggars, only done a few gigs but are top notch already.

Easily one of my favourite Midlands ska bands! I prefer their older stuff to the stuff they have on their myspace but they're good.

ah nice one for reminding me bout stained glass alice, chatd to them a lil while ago and i'm hoping to put them on a gig smetimoe too =]

They're playing Leicester in September! I wouldn't mind sorting them out a couple of northern dates sometime.

i'd recommend my band but we have no decent quality tracks, just rubbish self recorded things and a few live tracks froma gig where there was an empty room

Because the skamutiny wiki is the new A-Z, but no one contributes. I put about 20 or so bands in but then no one else was doing many (except summers) so I got bored.
