i imagine bobby is running on the same, since steam auto updates you. it's not a case of running the expansion, the expansions have different suffixes for the titles (for example "feltches_game.civ4beyondswordsavegame")

Ah right. I have it on disc and installed on my PC without steam on. I'm at work now but I'll sort it when I get home. Why don't you start a new game and put me on last.

It's like iTunes for games. Fairly good. I only have it on the laptop though because I bought football manager. I prefer good old real copies of things.

an account is free, games are priced relativly cheaply, unfortunatly you just missed out on a civ4 sale however. It is now £12.99 for the game, £24.99 with the two expansions

I'm all set and updated now. I bought another copy the other day because it came with Warlords and Beyond the Sword, I should get it soon. I think that sometimes expansions can ruin a game though.

beyond the sword is awesome, amongst it's features are improved ai and more dynamic spy part. it opens up the game quite a bit.

How do I load this, I'm quite retarded when it coems to this stuff!

open civ, multiplayer game, load game, find the saved game file that you saved to your desktop or wherever do your turn and a new saved game file will be created in your civ install folder. I'm not at home so i'm not to sure exactly where but something like civ/saved games/skutiny game/skutinygamedaveturn1.civ4savedgame, email that to the next guy (i believe is dave/moose). civ should tell you the email address to send it to when your turn ends.

since feltch has seen a turn in full from your point of view, he may be able to correct or expand on this a bit more but i think thats it.

i'd also recommend everyone set a password for their turn to stop people being able to view the civilization of the next player in turn, doesn't matter this early on but it will later. (not sure how you do it) and you can also set civ to auto email out your saved games for you, but i'm not sure how to set that up either.

Stick the save in Saves\pbem\skutiny game!\

Go to multiplayer, email, load game. Play your turn then it will say "send it to [xxxx]" or some shit like that.

If you press the escape key in game there's a button called 'your settings' (or something like that, it's definitely 'your' something or other) and you can change your email address and password (I would really recommend changing this, I still need to).

There is an option to put in your SMTP server so it sends it automatically but I don't think you can if you use a web-based email provider like hotmail. I think you can with some of them like Gmail though. Anyway, if you can't put in your SMTP then you will have to manually copy the saved game and paste it into an email attachment addressed to the next playeer. I think it would be a good idea to send the list of everyone's email addresses in the email along with the saved game.
