Ideas and suggestions

Right-o. With the new forum comes a lot more options in terms of what we can do with the layout/graphics etc, which is top. So any suggestions relating to that will be taken into consideration.

I'm also wondering how people feel about band/promoter forums? I was even considering having 'regional' sections, for different parts of the uk to represent themselves. With the nice new layout i could do something like this with very little clutter on the front page, it'd all be nicely tucked away in sub-forums.

Just ideas, obviously not all are going to be great but interested what people think.

the lay out and interface was pretty good on the last one tbh, i like nice standard forums. (but the other one seemed to be fucking up on people who aren't as awesome as me's pc's so good change)


should your avatar be half off the screen?

I was more a fan of the old one to be honest-on this i have to press on home to get back to the main forum????????

Isn't that the same as on the other forum? I usually just click the banner at the top.

A simple yes or no to the chat box would be nice...

i dont like the chat box very much.

could end up just being sykes and Jack and Bob posting annoying things again.

i quite like the idea of a chat box, not sure how much i'd wanna use it though... maybe keep it up for a week and see if people make use of it, if not, we'd never have to see it again, either way i'm gonna try it out for a bit, shout at/be nice to me if you see me in there!

also, do we know what this smiley: could ever be used for? i can't think of any post it would supplement appropriately lol, taking up valuable smiley room by the looks of it!

Yeah I'm up for the regional sections, that would be good.

Chat box is alright, I don't think many people would use it that much though.

In a thread about Egyptian Ska bands?

I don't like where the chat box is, maybe move it to the bottom? Or have a link to open it in a new window?

If you click on the chatbox info at the bottom it opens up the chatbox in a new window. So maybe we should just have that.

Do you know any Egyptian ska bands? I heard some ska with arabic lyrics while I was out there on holiday, I don't know if it was egyptian though. It was pretty good.

My mission is now to find an egyptian ska band.

Skaladdin exists... but they're Sweedish confusingly enough. Also i question whether egypt plays a role in any of the Arabian Nights stories.

The regional idea sounds pretty cool, i'm not sure if you have similar forums elsewhere in the UK, but if there was a southwest region, we could maybe poach a few people from the southwest music forums...which are huge!


As for an idea, a few years ago i used to post on a local bands forum, they had a cool little shout box on the home page, it wasn't used much, but occasionally someone would just write something quite funny in there, and then people would reply, then end up forgetting about it, until someone put something funny in again, it was quite good fun n i've not seen it anywhere else since. It wouldn't be like a separate chat box... that lets face it probably wouldn't get used much, but something just there for entertainment? what ya think?

We need the Dogster and Jamdown to post their news and updates. That's the only thing that was happening at Skacommunity.

This needs to get out and be pushed as much as possible, so people know about it! Get some flyers done, we'll stick some on merch

Is there anyway to change the default colour of hyperlinks? At the moment they're the same colour as regular text.
